Matcha green tea sends an incredibly powerful antioxidant called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) into your bloodstream to inhibit cell-damaging free radicals and to lower oxidative stress. Cleverly disguised products confuse consumers, and saturate the market with low quality, inauthentic brands, including Japanese-style matcha that is actually grown in China. Our Ancient Matcha is made of Japanese sourced & certified culinary grade matcha green tea. Compared to ceremonial grade matcha, which is only used for consuming it as a tea, our culinary grade Ancient Matcha can be used as a tea, mixed into smoothies or with milk and coffee to make a latte. It can also be safely used to make matcha ice cream and other creative recipes.

As a Tea

To drink Ancient Matcha as a tea, add 1-2 scoops to a cup, based on your preferred taste profile. Add 2-4 ounces of warm water and whisk your matcha tea in a W formation until it is fully dissolved. Depending on how much powder you use, our Ancient Match makes between 20-40 servings.

Other Ideas

Add a teaspoon of Ancient Matcha to your favorite smoothie recipe, or create a yummy Matcha Latte by adding it to milk and coffee (we recommend plant-based milk). Ancient Matcha can also be used to make ice cream, yogurt, muffins, macaroons, pudding, and many other fun food recipes.

Much much caffein is in Ancient Matcha green tea?

Since everyone has a different taste profile, it largely depends on how many scoops you use to prepare your tea. A single serving of Ancient Matcha contains approximately 70mg of caffeine, about half of what is considered a regular cup of coffee.

I see ceremonial grade matcha for sale everywhere, why is yours different?

Ceremonial grade matcha is the original grade of matcha powder that has historically only been used as a tea. However, matcha green tea has come a long way over the last millennium and is now used in all sorts of food and beverage products. Our Ancient Matcha is culinary grade matcha, a superior grade option that allows you to consume the powder as a tea, but also as a smoothie, ice cream, yogurt, latte, cookie, or any other creative food or beverage (you name it). Premium culinary grade matcha assures that whatever you are in the mood for, your matcha powder will be up for the task.

How is Matcha different from standard green tea?

The difference between Matcha and standard green tea is how it is cultivated and processed. The great care taken to gradually shade the tea plants from sunlight in the month before harvest results in thinner leaves, giving Matcha green tea its vibrant emerald color. During harvest, which takes place in May of each year, only new leaves are picked, then steamed and then dried. After sorting the leaves for grade and stems, veins, and any inferior quality leaves are removed, the leaves are called “tencha.” As a final step, the leaves are ground on a stone mill into a superfine powder, called Matcha.

How ancient is Matcha tea really?

Matcha green tea has been used in Japan for many centuries. Its long history dates back to the 1200’s when it was used by monks as an aid for meditation.

Where should I store my Ancient Matcha jar?

We recommend storing your Ancient Matcha in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight. If you don’t consume Match regularly, we recommend storing your jar in the fridge after opening. However, since moisture is an enemy of matcha powder, make sure to tightly secure your lid.

You can use it to make latte as long as it’s not dairy milk

I’ve seen a review that says you can’t use it to make lattes even if you’re using plant based milk. Please feel free to use your plant based milks, the effect on the polyphenols with milk only happen with dairy! Blessings

Please don’t use this to make a latte

The write up for this product says you can use it to make a green latte. Please don’t do that because when added to any milk, including plant based milk, it voids out the benefits of the matcha. Thanks 🙂

Comforted

With so many choices out there, I'm comforted knowing that the product is vetted for good quality. It can be a bit bitter so I drink it with just warm water and iat milk. Or add it to my yogurt. Yum!
