I haven’t had my double mastectomy yet. I’m supposed to have it in late May. I am just finishing 5 months of AC-T chemo. (Two treatments left yay!!)I I guess I’m still feeling afraid and on the fence about the double mastectomy. I’d love to connect with someone who either has been through that or even someone who chose not to do a recommended double mastectomy. I was staged at1B (metastatic with lymph nodes) but then they discovered a suspicious spot on my sternum....and if that had gotten a conclusive result from the biopsy it would have been changed to a Stage 4. But it was inconclusive so we all decided to just move forward with treatment and stop chasing it.
I have a wonderful family, and have been married to my best friend for 22 years. We have three girls 12, 18, 20. I’m so thankful for all of them. I think I’m just looking for some support from people who have “been there done that”. And who will tell me the truth. And not hold back, but also have love and empathy. 🙂 So much of this experience has been a surprise and I was utterly unprepared. No one gives you the nitty gritty down and dirty details. It’d help to talk to people with some experience and hindsight I think.
I look forward to being able to return the favor as a survivor.
