Questions To Ask After Diagnosis

I was invited to the TODAY show for 2009 breast cancer awareness month to talk about the top questions to ask your doctor after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Here is a quick summary of what I shared with viewers:

What Stage Am I?

There are 5 stages of breast cancer, 0 through 4. Make sure you understand which stage of breast cancer you have as it greatly affects treatment options and chances of survival.

What are my treatment options?

There are 3 main treatment options for breast cancer: surgery, radiation and medications, such as chemotherapy. You have many choices within these categories – be sure to understand what your options are and why!

I couldn’t hear the audio from my iPad 🙁 Do you have any other information about questions to ask after diagnosis?

This is a great presentation and very informative. Thanks. I was encouraged.

I saw the t.v. program and thank you so much for your efforts to provide women with the tools we need for prevention.

God Bless

Thank you for sharing this video Dr. Funk. I didn’t have good advice like this when I was diagnosed a few years back. My head was spinning like crazy and I didn’t even know I had to ask any questions. I went home and researched on the Internet just to get more confused and scared. I didn’t ask any questions when my doctor gave me the bad news – now I know this was a mistake. I want to recommend to every woman to clearly ask what stage of breast cancer she has before doing any research online and starting to fear for her live. My cancer was completely curable and I wasted a lot of energy because I didn’t ask enough questions.
